Become a Girl Scout! (podcast)
Here is my first attempt at a short podcast. This podcast is aimed at parents with daughters who would like to make a positive impact on their lives through Girl Scouting.
I decided to create a wiki project based on something that I know I will use and others will use: a Girl Scout site. I had initially thought about doing a journalism project. I work with so many Girl Scouts and I know they can benefit from a wiki, so that’s where I’m going. I began working on the first part, which is the Bronze Award. You can check it out here: http://worldinourhands.wikispaces.com/
My project is intended to invite Girl Scouts from across the country (maybe even world) to share their projects. Girl Scouts can earn three different awards that take a lot of commitment and hard work. They are the Bronze, Silver and Gold. The projects are a great source for other Scouts, and for the community. The girls spend a lot of time and effort completing these projects, and my wiki will give them a chance to post and share their experiences. I am looking forward to seeing what they post!
I will be creating a wiki patch that girls will earn if they complete certain wiki exercises. That’ll be a work in progress at it will need to get approval, etc., but it will happen one day!
This is the first post to my Edublog. I had never heard of Edublog until today. As far as other blogs, wikis, and podcasts, I have very little to no experience working with any of them, but I am very interested in learning as much as I can about them. I hope to be able to incorporate all of these technologies into my classroom in the future. I have recently accepted a job at a Charter school as an Educational Facilitator for high school students. I am looking forward to using this Edublog for my home school and independent study students and parents. I think that this is a perfect environment for students, parents, and teachers to be able to communicate. I really like the idea of having a newsletter or other type of publishing document. I was the editor of my college newspaper, and I have often thought about teaching students about journalism and editing. I think this would be a great forum for that, and I will be looking into it for my final project.
I look forward to learning many new technologies in EdTec700!
